The City of Victoria says that impacts should be expected on Gorge Road this week as construction continues.
Victoria is installing protected bike lanes along the arterial corridor and are re-paving the road while they are in the process.
This week, paving work is being done between Harriet Road and Balfour Avenue on July 15th and 16th.
Following the paving work, crews will be painting fresh lines in this section on July 17th and 18th.
The City says the work will be carried out in the early morning hours with crews starting at around 5 a.m. and those living nearby can expect noise and odours through the day.
Additionally, Gorge Road’s eastbound traffic will be closed between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday.
There will also be intermittent closures at intermittent streets and for residential driveways during construction.
On Albany Street, the City says underground work continues with electrical work underway and concrete curb and sidewalk work being carried out.
Crews are preparing this zone to have a new water main installed.
Victoria says that residents of Albany Street can expect noise and dust as well as some travel restrictions, as Gorge Road will only be operating with one lane in each direction and potential alternating traffic on Albany.
Lastly, there may be shut offs to water service through the water main installation process.
On Carroll Street and Washington Avenue sidewalk and curb work will be carried out this week which may also impact traffic on Gorge Road.
