RCMP, along search and rescue teams, have been in the Youbou area since Sunday searching for a missing man.
In a media release, Lake Cowichan RCMP said that Nicholas Marion, aged 38, was last seen leaving 11439 Youbou Road at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 30th.
Marion, who was visiting the area for the long weekend, has been missing since that time.
Marion is described as standing 6’0″ tall and weighing 174 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and a short black beard. He also has distinguishing tattoos on his neck.
At the time he was last seen, Marion was wearing a black t-shirt, black light jogging pants, and black Nike sneakers, specifically Retro Jordan 11s.
On Sunday, Marion’s wife took to social media, pleading for public assistance.
In several updates, she confirmed that he left the campground for a walk without his cell phone, wallet, money, or a jacket.
“After many hours of my own search, I filed a missing person report, and last night they launched a search and rescue operation. The massive effort continued until 1 a.m., combing the land around where he was last spotted by some campers. I’m very concerned about his well-being and worried sick about him,” said Dory LaFrance.
“He may be disoriented. He was last seen on a trail near the Pine Point campground around 7 p.m.”
Anyone with information as to Marion’s whereabouts or those who see him are asked to call Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6668 and reference file 2024-1151.
