An out-of-control fire in the backyard of a home in Sidney created large plumes of smoke over the town Thursday afternoon.
The fire, which has been deemed non-suspicious, broke out in the backyard of a home just just after 2 p.m. on Colinwood Road.
The Sidney Fire Department and RCMP arrived quickly on the scene to evacuate residents and neighbours safely, while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
Fortunately, there were no injuries resulting from the fire. No details were available on the cause of the fire.
Reports indicate that the home did suffer some smoke damage.
