A drug impaired driver was issued multiple fines after crashing into a parked vehicle in Langford last week.
On June 16th, at around 8:37 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a collision near the 1200 block of Nova Court.
Once on scene, officers determined a 2007 BMW 335X had allegedly crashed into the front end of a parked 2022 Kia Carnival.
Video surveillance showed the BMW driving erratically on the wrong side of the road prior to the crash.
Police identified the driver of the BMW as a 26-year-old man, who was showing signs of drug impairment. A sobriety test was conducted and he reportedly performed poorly.
Additionally, cannabis was located inside the vehicle within reach of the driver.
The driver was handed a 24-hour driving prohibition, and their vehicle was subsequently towed and impounded.
Additionally, the driver received two violation tickets: one for driving without due care and attention, which carried a fine of $368 and added six penalty points to their record, and another for operating a vehicle while in personal possession of cannabis, resulting in a $230 fine.
