West Shore RCMP are asking residents living in the Bear Mountain area to remain inside their homes due to a police incident Tuesday night.

There is a significant police presence in the 1100 block of Timber View in Langford, including heavily armed officers and a K9 in the neighbourhood.

It’s unclear when the incident began, however, it believed to have started in the early evening.

In a tweet, RCMP stated that the situation is contained, but “we respectfully ask that surrounding residents stay inside their homes and give the police space to work.”

Residents living in the area tell Victoria Buzz police are dealing with a standoff with a resident in one of the houses.

This is the second incident on the street in the past two weeks; however, it is not believed to be related to the previous incident.

More to come.
