Police in Greater Victoria are investigating another incident involving a pedestrian and vehicle.

At around 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 1st, police were called to the 700-block of Hillside Avenue after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle.

The section of road is closed between Blanshard and Douglas Streets and is being blocked to both pedestrians and motorists.

In a tweet, VicPD confirmed they were investigating the incident as a pedestrian struck and that the area would be closed for several hours.

In a follow up email to Victoria Buzz, VicPD said the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Photos from the scene show a tarp covering what appears to be a body on the roadway.

The crash follows several recent pedestrian collisions on Vancouver Island, including a fatal crash in Sooke on Thursday and a fatal pedestrian crash on the Pat Bay Highway in early February.

Another incident includes a 75-year-old pedestrian from Qualicum Beach being struck by a vehicle while in a marked crosswalk.

More to come.
