Saanich robbery suspect arrested in Courtenay on Thursday

The 37-year-old man who was wanted for multiple armed robberies in Saanich on October 24th was arrested yesterday in Courtenay.

The suspect, Michael Godolphin, was taken into custody by Comox Valley RCMP on Thursday, just after 2:30 PM.

On Tuesday, the 24th, Godolphin was stopped by a London Drugs Loss Prevention Officer outside of the store for shoplifting when he allegedly brandished a handgun and fled.

Police said he headed southbound on the Lochside Regional Trail where he then allegedly robbed a cyclist of their black Miele electric bike.

Saanich Police had labelled him armed and dangerous when they began their search on Tuesday.

Godolphin is due to appear in court today.

This is the same suspect who was also arrested last year when he fired shots in a stand-off with the police in Langford.
