Search continues for missing mushroom picker near Nanaimo

RCMP and search and rescue officials are searching for an elderly woman who left to go mushroom picking and hasn’t been heard from since Sunday afternoon.

Seventy three year-old Faye Hanson of Nanaimo was reported missing by a friend who said Hanson left home around noon on Sunday, driving her blue 2014 Silverado.

Her truck was located around 10 a.m. on Monday near the intersection of Timberlands and Ninatti Roads, not far from Ladysmith.

No clothing description is available for Hanson, but she carries a camera in a red Molson Canadian cooler bag.

Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 immediately.
