Beginning July 17th, a group of local landscape artists will be putting their paintings on display in the Wild Places, Wild Women exhibit.
The showcase will take place in Sidney at the ArtSea Gallery in Tulista Park, located at 9565 Fifth Street.
The artists involved are Claudia Malacrida, Sheryl Parsons, Ann Perodeau and Linda Urbinsky.
This showcase brings to light what the four women had discovered while preparing for the exhibit—new ways of being and understanding through painting the wild places around them.
“For us, painting possibilities come from anywhere; from a surprising moment when the light hits the trees in just the right way, or a peaceful interlude as the fog clings gently to the water, creating mystery and calm,” the artists wrote in a media release.
“There are endless ways the wild can strike a chord and bring us back to the easel to try to capture nature’s ‘language.’”
The women added that they believe wild spaces touch and nurture something deep inside everyone, helping them to see a world that remains beautiful, despite our worst efforts.
This belief brings joy, inspiration and solace to the artists, which they hope to share with attendees of the showcase.
Additionally, the Wild Places, Wild Women exhibit will be donating part of the proceeds of the arts sold to four charities and each artist will be putting a painting up for silent auction, with all proceeds going to the charity of the artist’s choice.
The charities they selected are: Reuniting Afghan Family, Backpack Buddies, the Cridge Centre for the Family and UNICEF Ukraine Relief Fund.
Plus, one lucky attendee of the exhibit will win an artful gift basket.
“Please come visit us, enjoy the art, and find your own wild and generous moment,” the artists concluded.
The exhibit will be on display from July 17th to 23rd.
