Saanich Police have brought one suspect into custody following an alleged assault that saw a large police presence in the Royal Oak area Wednesday night.
Just before 7 p.m. on October 21st, officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the 700 block of Shawnee Road near Royal Oak Middle School.
Police say when officers arrived at the scene, they found an individual with significant injuries who required immediate medical attention.
The victim was transported to hospital where they remain in stable condition.
According to Saanich Police, the suspect was located a short distance away and taken into custody at around 7:30 p.m.
The suspect remains in custody while awaiting a court appearance.
Police say detectives with the Major Crime Unit continue to investigate.
