In an effort to get more voters to the polls this Saturday, Victorians will be able to ride the bus for free.
BC Transit is collaborating with participating local governments across the province by offering transit free of charge on Saturday, October 17th.
The transit provider says decisions to provide free transit were made by local governments in the communities participating.
In addition to the Victoria Regional Transit System, the following regions on Vancouver Island will have free transit on general voting day:
- Campbell River
- Comox Valley
- Cowichan Valley—excluding inter-regional routes CVX, SVX and NCX
- Nanaimo—excluding inter-regional route NCX
- Port Alberni
- Salt Spring Island
