Mark your calendars Victoria, SkyWalk Brewfest is almost here!
The inaugural festival is set for Saturday, October 3rd, and is bound to be one of the biggest events in the area this fall.
Some of Vancouver Island’s best-known breweries and cideries will be pouring throughout the day, alongside live entertainment, pub games and much more!
There’s a lot to know about the five-hour festival, so we’ve made a list of some of the event’s highlights so you’ve got all the information you need to have a great time.
Without further ado, here are 7 things you need to know about the SkyWalk Brewfest this Saturday, October 3rd:
The event will feature some of Vancouver Island’s best brewers
SkyWalk Brewfest will bring a lineup from across Vancouver Island’s brewing and cideries community together.
Beer connoisseurs will recognize many of the names at the event, and there are some up-and-coming breweries on the list as well.
The list of brewers includes:
- Vancouver Island Brewing
- Deadhead Brew Co.
- Hoyne Brewing
- Merridale Cidery & Distillery
- Red Arrow Brewing
- Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse
- Brass Monkey Brewing & Taproom
- Driftwood Brewery
- Serious Brewing Company
- Ace Brewing Company
This is a great opportunity to enjoy some of your favourite brewers while trying some creations from some of the new kids on the block.
There will also be non-alcoholic options available!
You can get transportation to and from the Festival
Malahat SkyWalk is offering ticket packages that include transportation to and from the event.
The transportation package is available from both Victoria and the Cowichan Valley, so attendees can enjoy the afternoon without thinking about the drive home.
The package includes round-trip transportation to and from the event, admission to the Malahat SkyWalk, a SkyWalk Brewfest wristband, and four tasting tokens.
The Victoria shuttle pick-up will be from Capital City station at 11 a.m., with a return drop-off time departing from the Malahat SkyWalk at 4 p.m.
The Cowichan Valley shuttle will pick-up from Cowichan Visitor Centre & Country Grocer at 11 a.m. and there will be a drop-off shuttle departing from the SkyWalk at 4 p.m.
The transportation package is $89.95 plus tax and can be purchased here.
There will be live music
There will be music throughout the afternoon, too.
DJ Island Rob will be spinning laid-back, lo-fi house music throughout the day to keep the vibes high.
He knows how to throw a party, so make sure to pack the dancing shoes.
There will be games and entertainment
One of the festival highlights will be everyone’s favourite game—music trivia!
There will be two rounds of trivia hosted by DJ Island Rob at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., so make sure to bring the music nerd in your life.
There will also be lawn and pub games throughout the day.
You can create your own beer label
Have you ever created your own beer label?
Now’s your chance—there will be a beer label station set up at the festival, with prizes awarded to the best labels.
Go for the Island pours and stay for an afternoon of music, creativity, friendly competition, and fall fun.
There will be food available
Food and beverages go together like… well, food and beverages!
Beverage tasting, games and music trivia is hungry work, and the SkyWalk Brewfest has you covered.
For those who get hungry during the event, there will be seasonal food available for purchase.
There’s nothing better than enjoying a festival in the fall than with some food straight from the autumn harvest.
It’s a true fall experience
To add to the fall atmosphere, Malahat SkyWalk will also be transformed for the occasion, with the venue decorated with seasonal fall decor.
Guests will not only be able to enjoy stunning views of the Saanich Peninsula with its trees changing colour, but will be surrounded by pumpkins and seasonal displays as well.
Time to get the cameras out! It’s hard to imagine a better photo opportunity than from the Malahat SkyWalk decorated in everyone’s favourite fall colours.
