What’s better than ice cream for breakfast? Ice cream for breakfast for a good cause!
49 Below Ice Cream will be giving Victoria a reason to start the day with a smile this week, opening early and offering up some early morning ice cream.
On Wednesday, September 2nd, the company’s location in Vic West will be opening their doors from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and holding an ‘Ice Cream for Breakfast’ community event.
The event is intended as a fundraiser for The Mustard Seed’s Fair Start “Fill a Backpack” campaign, which gives children in the area a new backpack, shoes and school supplies. Each kit comes at the cost of $118.
The ice cream shop says their goal is to raise enough funds to completely gear up five local kids.
Every scoop on Wednesday morning will send $1 to the backpack drive and earn an entry into the grand prize draw, which features gift cards to The Village and Ruth & Dean.
Keeping with the breakfast theme, guests who show up in their pajamas will be given an extra entry into the draw. Sharing the event on social media will also earn an extra entry.
“Ice cream for breakfast is the kind of core memory you remember as you grow up,” said Dan Edler, owner of 49 Below.
“We love when ice cream can become the building block in people’s traditions and memory making. We wanted to kick off September with something fun for families, while helping a few extra kids walk into their classrooms next week feeling ready and confident.”
The company also says they will be revealing a new breakfast cereal flavour at the event. A winner for the draw will be chosen at 12 p.m. on the same day.
