Back in August, Victoria’s shopping scene got a little more interesting with an announcement that MUJI Canada would be opening its first store on Vancouver Island at Mayfair Shopping Centre.

This week, a grand opening date was announced.

The date is just days away, with MUJI scheduled to officially open its doors on Saturday, October 24th.

The celebration is going to be quite the occasion, with MUJI Canada announcing events and gifts for shoppers during opening weekend.

According to a social media post from the company, the first customers into the store next weekend will be welcomed with some special goodies, including a $10 gift card to the store for the first 100 customers inside.

With a $50 purchase on Saturday, shoppers will receive a free MUJI tote bag and be entered into a MUJI ‘Lucky Draw’ event.

The first 300 customers into MUJI on both Saturday and Sunday will also be given a thank you gift bag and a complimentary breakfast treat from the store.

All shoppers over the weekend will have the chance to visit a treat station set up in the store after any purchase.

Opening day will also feature some entertainment, with a Taiko drum performance taking place at 10:45 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony.

Attending opening weekend is free, however registration can be completed here for those who want to reserve a spot at the event.

As an extra bonus, registering for the event enters shoppers into a draw for a chance to win one of five $100 gift cards to the store, with winners able to redeem their cards at the register.
