Victoria installs new numbered signs along Dallas Road to aid emergency response

Share

The City of Victoria has recently installed 19 numbered signs at beach entrances along Dallas Road to help first responders in emergency situations.

With these new signs, people can more accurately communicate their location to emergency crews such as paramedics, fire fighters and police when needed.

The signs span Dallas Road from Ogden Point to Gonzales Beach with clearly displayed numbers as well as other information.

The City believes these improved signs will effectively reduce sign clutter by combining the access point’s location ID, along with information on hazards and regulations.

When going to the beach, residents and visitors are asked to take note of the nearest beach access number.

In an emergency situation, sharing the number with the 911 operator will help first responders get to the scene faster.

The City also noted that open fires are not permitted in Victoria.
