After an incident of alleged motorcycle stunting, Central Saanich Police are reminding motorcycists of the consequences surrounding driving irresponsibly.
On Tuesday, July 14th, Central Saanich Police were called to the intersection of Wallace Drive and West Saanich Road at around 8:30 a.m., following a single-vehicle crash.
“A motorcycle driver attempted a burnout but lost control, sliding their bike across the intersection,” Central Saanich Police said in a social media post.
“Thankfully, the driver was uninjured and traffic was minimally impacted.”
The rider was handed a ticket for driving without due care and attention, which carries a $368 fine and six penalty points.
The motorcycle was also impounded for seven days.
In their post, police noted that stunting is both dangerous and illegal.
“We urge all motorists to prioritize safety,” police said. “Let’s keep our roads safe for everyone.”
Stunt driving can include deliberately losing traction, spinning tires, driving into oncoming traffic, preventing other vehicles from passing or following another vehicle too closely.
