Big Brothers Big Sisters Victoria needs $250K to prevent cuts to programming

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria Capital Region (BBBS) has issued an urgent plea to the community to help them raise money to prevent cuts to programming that helps so many children in the region.

According to the organization, if they cannot raise $250,000 by September, BBBS Victoria will be forced to cut mentoring programs that hundreds of local families rely on.

The organization has been helping children and families in the capital region for nearly 50 years through their mentoring programs. These programs help young people facing adversity find confidence, connection and hope.

“Today, those life-changing relationships are at risk,” BBBS wrote in an appeal letter to the community.

“Due to unexpected funding reductions and rising costs, our mentoring programs face a critical shortfall. Without immediate support, we will be forced to cancel programs that hundreds of local youth depend on.”

The organization noted that in 2025 alone, more than 600 local youth and their families were supported by the program.

“We cannot let those young people fall through the cracks,” added BBBS.

To help keep their programming afloat, they are asking community members who are able to make a donation.

For those who cannot make a financial donation, BBBS asks that they share their message.

Donations can be made through the BBBS Victoria website.
