A 22-year-old man has been sentenced after pleading guilty in two separate sexual offence investigations in the West Shore.
One of the incidents involved a child at a Langford elementary school.
According to the West Shore RCMP, Brodie Mollin received consecutive jail sentences in connection to incidents that took place in Langford in 2025.
Police say the first incident occurred on April 19th, 2025, at around 6 p.m., when a woman shopping at a Michaels store in Langford reported that a man had been following her through the store while exposing his genitals and recording her with a cellphone.
Officers located and arrested Mollin shortly after the report was made.
On July 17th, 2025, Mollin pleaded guilty to one count of committing an indecent act in a public place. On May 12th, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail.
The second investigation stemmed from an incident on September 15th, 2025, at Eagle View Elementary School in Langford.
According to police, a young girl was playing in the schoolyard when she was approached by an unknown man who exposed himself and sexually touched the child. RCMP said the child was able to safely leave the area and was not physically injured.
Two days later, on September 17th, West Shore RCMP officers arrested Mollin, who remained in custody until trial.
On October 30th, 2025, Mollin pleaded guilty to sexual interference of a person under 16 and exposing genitals to a person under 16.
The court sentenced Mollin on May 12th, to 244 days in jail after taking into account 237 days of pre-sentence custody, which was credited as 356 days.
Police said the effective global sentence amounted to 600 days, or 20 months, and is to be served consecutively to the earlier 90-day sentence.
Following his release, Mollin will also be subject to a three-year probation order that includes conditions prohibiting contact with anyone under the age of 16.
The court additionally imposed a 10-year sexual offence prohibition order banning Mollin from attending places where children may reasonably be expected to be present, including parks, schools, daycare centres, swimming areas and community centres.
He also received a 10-year firearms prohibition, was ordered to provide a DNA sample and will remain on the National Sex Offender Registry for 20 years.
“This was a coordinated investigation led by the Special Victims Unit, with the deployment and support of the Serious Crime Unit, Investigative Support Team and frontline officers,” said Sgt. Kevin Shaw of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit in a statement.
“The collaborative efforts of all involved ensured a thorough and victim-centred investigation, while prioritizing community safety and support for those impacted.”
