One of Canada’s most iconic bands is coming to the Parksville Outdoor Theatre for the first time on Friday, August 21st.
Closing out the theatre’s summer season, An Evening with Blue Rodeo promises to be Parksville’s biggest live music event to date, showcasing the band’s distinctive blend of country, rock and folk music.
Formed in 1984 in Toronto by high school friends Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, the duo moved to New York in hopes of signing with a record label. After several years of struggling, they returned to Toronto’s vibrant music scene, where they carved out their own path—ignoring trends and creating what they called a “psychedelic country band”: Blue Rodeo.
Eventually, they were joined by Bazil Donovan, Cleave Anderson and Bobby Wiseman, quickly gaining momentum as they began filling venues and playing for thousands of fans across the country.
Current members performing in the band include Jim Cuddy, Greg Keelor, Bazil Donovan, Glenn Milchem, Michael Boguski, Colin Cripps and Jimmy Bowskill.
Since their inception, the band has won 12 Juno Awards with 31 nominations, earned two Candian Country Music Awards with 17 nominations and sold more than four million albums.
Now, celebrating their 40th anniversary, the band is hitting the road this summer for a Canadian tour with stops in small communities, such as Picton, Invermere, Parksville and more.
Presale tickets run from April 8th to 10th, with general sales beginning April 11th. General admission is $75 per person, premium reserved seating ranges from $89 to $99 and VIP seating is $149.
