Oak Bay police are investigating a theft after two surfboards and a wetsuit were taken from a vehicle parked at a local automotive business.
Police say officers responded on December 2nd after receiving a report of a theft from a Ford F-350 that had been parked on a Newport Avenue property. CCTV footage captured the suspect leaving the area carrying two surfboards and a small bag.
According to police, the truck’s canopy window had been left open and entry appears to have been gained without causing any damage to the vehicle.
Police released a still image of the suspect has been released as investigators work to identify the individual involved. Anyone who recognizes the person or has information related to the theft is asked to contact police.
In other Oak Bay incidents, police dealt with an impaired driving incident at Cattle Point on December 4th.
According to Okay Bay police, a vehicle was stopped in the 2900 block of Beach Drive after being observed parked improperly in designated boat trailer stalls.
The 43-year-old driver, who held a Class 7 novice licence, showed signs of impairment and failed two roadside breath tests. Police issued a 90-day driving ban, impounded the vehicle for 30 days, and issued a violation ticket.
Police also helped reunite a lost dog with its owner on December 6th after receiving a call about a found dog near St. Patrick Street and Central Avenue. Officers located the dog, named Sparky, with a nearby resident and were able to return him home using the phone number listed on his collar.
