Nanaimo man dies in motorhome fire near rugby club on Dover Road

Nanaimo RCMP have shared that one man has died as a result of a motorhome catching fire in the 6800-block of Dover Road, near Nanaimo Hornets Rugby Club. 

The vehicle fire was reported at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10th, which saw police, paramedics and firefighters respond. 

When police arrived, fire crews had already contained the fire with no secondary damage to any other structures.

First responders discovered one adult man, deceased inside the motorhome and one other individual, who was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

According to Nanaimo RCMP, the investigation is in its preliminary stages, but do not believe the fire to be criminal in nature. 

Police contained the scene throughout the evening, with investigators collecting evidence on Thursday morning. 

As of this publication, Nanaimo RCMP has not revealed the cause of the fire.
