Oak Bay Avenue will light up with holiday cheer with this weekend

Share

Christmas is coming to Oak Bay!

Oak Bay will kick off the holiday season with its 25th annual Light Up extravaganza this weekend  along Oak Bay Avenue.

The festivities begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th, bringing the streets to life with family-fun activities, including street hockey, craft stations, food trucks, and even a hula hooping area.

Wander through the celebration while snacking on roasted chestnuts from Ottavio Italian Bakery, browsing the newly added Christmas market for holiday gifts, or visiting the beloved letters-to-Santa writing station, hosted by Oak Bay Kiwanis.

And don’t miss the full-sized ice sculpture of Santa’s chair!

Crafted by Master Ice Carver Aaron Grant, the public is welcome to hop in the seat and snap a photo while he completes his finishing touches, providing the perfect holiday photo opportunity.

At 3 p.m., live music brings a Holiday Kitchen Party to the avenue, with performances from returning favourites, local choirs, and school ensembles.

Enjoy the music or head over to the Garry Oak Room in the Monterey Rec Centre between 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. for crafts, popcorn, hot chocolate, holiday stories, and a Christmas photo booth!

Plus, there will be a Winter Wonderland Scavenger Hunt!

The grand finale starts at 5 p.m., when Oak Bay Avenue lights up with holiday cheer—from the sparkling shopfronts to the old-fashioned lampposts—finishing with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving in style on a decorated fire truck.

Families can capture photos with the Clauses, with donations supporting the Oak Bay Firefighters Foundation.

Celebrate a quarter-century of holiday magic and community spirit—bring your family and friends and enjoy a day full of light, music, and festive cheer!
