A driver who allegedly blew past the speed limit on McKenzie Avenue last week is facing a fine, a seven-day vehicle impound, and a possible driving ban after being stopped by Saanich Police.
According to police, the incident happened on November 12th, when the vehicle was clocked travelling eastbound through the 1400-block of McKenzie Avenue at 121 km/h.
The posted limit in the area is 50 km/h.
The driver received a ticket for excessive speeding and had their vehicle impounded immediately.
Furthermore, police say the driver could have his licence prohibited after being sent to RoadSafetyBC.
“The driver’s behaviour was reckless and posed a serious threat to the safety of others. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on our roads,” said Sgt. Jeff Bevington of the traffic safety unit.
Saanich Police urge drivers to slow down as speeding remains a major contributor to serious and fatal crashes in BC.
