For a second time, Victoria’s iconic Fairmont Empress has been recognized by Historic Hotels Worldwide as the 2025 Best Historic Hotel in the Americas.
The 2025 Historic Hotels Worldwide Awards of Excellence celebrate the most exemplary hotels and hoteliers globally, and out of the 200 nominations received, only 10 hotels receive awards.
For preserving its Edwardian architectural style, maintaining its historic integrity, and delivering an exceptional guest experience, the Empress claimed a spot on this esteemed award list.
Since opening in 1908, the Empress has been a staple to locals and tourists alike, hosting royalty and celebrities from around the world.
It’s not only acclaimed for its architecture and extraordinary guest service, but its world-famous Afternoon Tea, which has been served for over 117 years.
In 2014, the hotel experienced a transformative chapter when new leadership, visionary developer Nat Bosa, purchased the property.
