Victoria’s 2025 cruise season officially ends this Saturday with one last visit from the Norwegian Encore.
This wraps up another busy year for the Breakwater District at Ogden Point.
This year, the city saw 311 ship visits, bringing in an estimated 990,000 passengers and 377,000 crew members.
These numbers are similar to last year’s record-setting 2024 season.
The first ship to arrive in March was the Disney Wonder, which marked the start of a seven-month period where cruise ships docked almost daily through spring and summer.
August was the busiest month, with over 50 ship visits. July 27th was particularly notable, as four large vessels, including the Royal Princess and Quantum of the Seas, were in port at the same time.
The 2025 season also featured five first-time visits, welcoming new cruise lines and ships to the harbour. Passengers enjoyed the return of the Market on the Pier, a popular artisan market that appeared at the terminal each week.
“With another successful season coming to an end, the cruise ship industry continues to provide a significant economic benefit to Greater Victoria,” said Judith Ethier, acting CEO of the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority (GVHA).
“We’re grateful for the support of the cruise lines and all the local businesses who help create a memorable experience for visitors.”
The largest ship to visit this season was the Norwegian Encore, stretching nearly 1,100 feet long and carrying close to 4,000 passengers. Other massive liners like the Quantum of the Seas and Royal Princess also drew plenty of spectators to Dallas Road to catch a glimpse.
Cruise tourism continues to be a major economic driver for the region, supporting local tour operators, shops, restaurants, and transportation providers.
According to GVHA, each cruise call injects tens of thousands of dollars into the local economy, from whale-watching tours to downtown spending sprees.
And the momentum isn’t slowing down.
Looking ahead, GVHA says 2026 will bring even more excitement, with Virgin Voyages and MSC Cruises both set to make their first appearances at the Breakwater District.
