Serious collision on Trans-Canada Highway at Helmcken shuts down both southbound lanes

Westshore RCMP are advising motorists that a collision on the Trans-Canada Highway has significantly impacted traffic flow. 

The two-vehicle collision occurred near the intersection of Helmcken Road at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24th. 

As of this publication, both southbound lanes and one northbound lane have shut down at the location of the collision while emergency crews work at the scene. 

Police warn motorists travelling through this corridor to expect traffic delays in the area and to find an alternate route.

Currently, there is no estimated time of when the area will be cleared.

Police have not revealed if any injuries resulted from this collision.
