West Shore RCMP have confirmed that arrests have been made in two separate cases.
One involves a $5,000 cellphone fraud in Langford. The other is linked to an alleged random assault at Thetis Lake Park.
On August 27th, police asked for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of fraudulently obtaining several smartphones from a mobile shop in Langford using fake identification. The transactions totaled more than $5,000.
In an update on September 16th, West Shore RCMP confirmed they identified the suspect and that their fraud investigation is still ongoing.

West Shore RCMP also confirmed that an arrest has been made in a separate investigation related to an alleged assault at Thetis Lake Park.
On August 12th, at around 9 a.m., a woman was running on a trail when a man approached her and allegedly grabbed her before she could escape. The woman did not sustain any physical injuries.
Two days later, the RCMP made a public appeal for help in identifying the suspect.
On September 12th, investigators confirmed they had arrested a man in connection with the case. He has since been released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled.
Police described the situation as an isolated incident and stated they do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public.
When Victoria Buzz asked why the case was now being considered “isolated”, West Shore RCMP declined to provide more details, citing the ongoing investigation.
