Port Alberni RCMP investigating second fatality after body was found in vehicle fire

Port Alberni RCMP are seeking witnesses after human remains were found in a burned vehicle. 

On August 6th, at around 3:19 a.m., police were called to the 3700 block of 4th Avenue to assist the Port Alberni Fire Department with a vehicle fire. 

Police say that once the fire was extinguished, unidentified human remains were found within the vehicle.

Investigators are now seeking information and dashcam footage from those who were in the area between the times of 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. 

Police say no further details are available at this time.

This is the second fire-related fatality in Port Alberni within the week, as a suspicious house fire caused the death of a man on Saturday, August 2nd, in the 2000-block of 16th Avenue.
