Two drivers are without their vehicles after being nabbed for excessive speeding last week.
In a media release, Oak Bay Police said they nabbed two vehicles that were driving nearly triple the speed limit in two separate instances.
The first occurred on July 24th at around 4:45 p.m., where police were monitoring traffic on Beach Drive and they stopped a vehicle for excessive speeding.
Not only was the driver determined to be travelling at 114 km/hr in a 40 km/hr zone, police also realized they were driving while prohibited from doing so..
As a result, the driver was charged with excessive speeding, a fine of $483; driving while prohibited; and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
A couple of days later on July 26th, a separate incident took place at 1:45 a.m., in which police stopped a vehicle travelling at 130 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone on Foul Bay Road.
The driver was issued several charges, including excessive speeding, which carries a fine of $483, failure to display an ‘N’ sign resulting in a $109 fine, and driving contrary to restriction, also fined at $109. Additionally, the vehicle was towed from the scene at the owner’s expense.
