Celebrate the richness and vibrancy of African and Afro-descendant cultures this weekend!
The popular AfriCa Fest, presented by the ISSAMBA Centre, is returning for their 12th edition on Thursday, June 26th and runs until Sunday, June 29th at Centennial Square.
This year’s theme is “Diversity in Rhythm, Culture in Unity,” and celebrates African and Caribbean cultures while honoring the connections that bring us all together.
As always, there will be an incredible array of music, movement and mouthwatering flavours across a variety of food.
Don’t miss their glamorous opening show, with the Fashion Night presented by Udamma Fashion, a runway showcase featuring African fashion and innovation.
This incredible glance at traditional textiles and contemporary designs will begin at 7 p.m., which is shortly after the festival officially begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Friday night will present attendees with an African Percussion and Drumming workshop, where you can expect a Master percussionist performance, interactive drumming circle, dancing and more.
Saturday will bring even more fun, with the day’s festivities dedicated to Canadian Multiculturalism Day, celebrating the richness of Canada’s diversity.
Brand new to the festival is their weekend brunch offering! Treat yourself to a lovely morning filled with African food and flavour, brunch style.
It will be served on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and will include yummy bites, live music, and a warm atmosphere.
