Oak Bay Police investigating suspicious door-to-door sales people

Oak Bay Police say they have opened an investigation into recent suspicious door-to-door activity by a person of interest who became aggressive while trying to make a sale. 

On June 13th, police say they responded to a report of two men offering window cleaning services in the 2600 block of Dunlevy Street.

Police say the two men were being aggressive in their sales approach and refused to provide identification or business credentials to the complainant when requested. 

Additionally, police noted the duo reportedly lacked any equipment typically associated with a window cleaning service.

Police were ultimately unable to locate the individuals, following the report. 

Following this incident, Oak Bay Police are warning residents to be wary of suspicious services being sold door-to-door.

Warning signs of fraudulent services being offered can include, the sales person having no visible equipment or work vehicle, lacking a uniform or business identification, using aggressive or high-pressure sales tactics, demanding an upfront payment and lastly, having no business license or online presence.

Police say that those who are concerned about the legitimacy of sales people or believe their behaviour is suspicious, it is best to notify police.
