Get ready for a weekend packed with kilts, culture, and high-flying cabers!

Victoria’s legendary Highland Games & Celtic Festival is back for its 162nd year, taking place on Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th at Topaz Park.

As the longest continually running Highland Games in North America, this iconic event brings a powerful blend of tradition, competition, and community spirit to the heart of the city.

But before the main festivities get underway, the celebrations will kick off with the annual Tartan Parade this weekend on May 10th, starting at 11 a.m.

The parade route begins at Centennial Square, and will wind its way down Government Street to the Legislature Grounds.

The parade will feature local pipe bands, highland dancers, athletes from the heavy events competitions, and representatives from Scottish and Celtic heritage groups across the region.

This year’s games are once again playing host to the prestigious International Heavy Events Challenge and the Canadian Invitational Drum Major Championship, bringing together elite athletes and performers from across the globe.

The world-renowned Simon Fraser University Pipe Band—considered the top pipe band in North America—will be competing both days, making this a must-see for pipe music enthusiasts.

Beyond the competitions, the festival is a full-on celebration of Scottish and Celtic culture, with a wide array of events and attractions for the whole family.

Attendees can also explore Clan and genealogy booths, sample authentic Scottish and Celtic food, and browse merchandise from artisan vendors.

For those aged 19 and over, there’s a chance to sample some of Scotland’s finest at the Single Malt Whisky School or enjoy a selection of vino at the Wine Tasting School

General adult tickets are $20 for a day pass, and $30 for a weekend pass. They can be purchased online, or in person at the Strathcona Liquor Store.

Tickets will also be available at the gates during the festival, and as always, children under 12 get in for free.

The Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival is a rain-or-shine event—so bring your tartan, your umbrella, and your best festival spirit!
