Police are warning the public to stay alert after several cougars were spotted in Central Saanich yesterday.
In a Facebook post from Monday, April 21st, police confirmed cougar sightings near Centennial Park and the Saanichton area that evening.
Police attempted to locate the cougar, which was reportedly running north along Wallace Drive toward Mt Newton Cross Road.
The cougar was last seen near Mt Newton Cross Road at East Saanich Road—use caution while walking in this area.
Conservation Officers have been informed.
“While cougars are normally stealthier, this is not unusual for the time of year given our proximity to rural/farm and park lands,” the Facebook post reads.
A resident who lives in the 7100 block of Wallace Drive posted a video on Facebook showing a feline walking outside the front door of their home around 8 p.m. Monday night.
