Nanaimo RCMP are looking into a dog bite incident that sent a woman for medical treatment after she was bitten on the arm while out for a walk.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9th, near Superior Road and Island Highway North.
According to police, the woman was passing another woman walking a large dog on a leash when the dog appeared to get spooked, turned abruptly, and lunged at her.
The dog walker reportedly lost her balance and was dragged a short distance before the dog bit the passerby on the arm. The injury required several stitches.
The dog walker only provided her first name before continuing on her way. The dog is described as very large, with grey, wiry hair, and resembling an Irish Wolfhound.
Animal Control has also launched an investigation. Anyone with information about the dog or its owner is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
