Port Alberni RCMP are on the hunt for a suspect who pulled off a smash-and-grab at Jim’s Clothes Closet in the early hours of February 27th, leaving behind shattered glass and a hefty repair bill.
It all went down around 2 a.m. Thursday, when RCMP officers rushed to the Johnston Road storefront after reports of a break-in. When they arrived, they found the front display window completely destroyed and clothing items missing.
With police swarming the area and RCMP Police Dog Services tracking the scent, it looked like the suspect might get caught—but despite an extensive search, he managed to flee police.
“Multiple police members responded as indications were that the suspect may have gained entry to the business,” said Port Alberni RCMP.
The suspect, who was caught on CCTV , is described as a male wearing a black face covering, a red T-shirt, a black puffy coat, black jeans, black and white Nike sneakers.
Sgt. Chet Carroll didn’t mince words about the incident, calling it a “senseless crime” that left a local business dealing with thousands of dollars in damages.
