It’s Family Day weekend, Victoria!

To celebrate, take advantage of the exceptional number of events happening across the city, including a free photobooth at Tillicum Centre, an Open Cockpit Day at the BC Aviation Museum, Victoria Film Festival screenings and much more.

Plenty of businesses are offering special Family Day deals too, such as the Malahat SkyWalk with 50% off admission, and Butchart Gardens with their free carousel rides on Monday!

Don’t forget to check out the different Black History Month events happening as well.

Without further ado, here’s 19 things to do in and around Victoria this Family Day weekend—February 15th to 17th:

Victoria Royals vs. Everett Silvertips

The Victoria Royals are set to host a special mid-day game on Monday, February 17th, in celebration of Family Day, and this time, the kids are in charge! Young fans aged 14 and under will have the opportunity to step into game-day roles, getting a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run a WHL game.

The fun doesn’t stop there—after the final buzzer, kids can hit the ice for a post-game skate with Royals players (skate rental not available). The afternoon will also feature live entertainment, a DJ, and plenty of family-friendly fun, making it a must-attend event for hockey-loving families.

Malahat SkyWalk

Kicking off on Valentine’s Day, this award-winning attraction is offering special food selections, exciting activities, and thrilling outdoor adventures to celebrate Family Day weekend!

Take a stroll through the treetops on the elevated TreeWalk and the stunning west coast views from the awe-inspiring Spiral Tower.

From February 14th to 17th, guests can enjoy this attraction for 50% off the cost of admission.

Sidney Museum: LEGO Family Day Weekend

The Sidney Museum has an exciting lineup of LEGO themed activities designed for families and kids of every age all weekend long!

Visit the Sidney Museum to see hundreds of LEGO models and pick up your Beacon Avenue Scavenger Hunt map.

Businesses and organizations from all over town will have LEGO sets on display in their windows and storefronts. Find them all and be entered in a draw to win LEGO prizes!

Admission to the museum is by donation.

 Victoria Seedy Saturday

Victoria Seedy Saturday is back for another year, and it’s gearing up for an even bigger, better experience at a new location!

This beloved event, a cornerstone of the local gardening community, has been a staple since 1994, making it the second-oldest Seedy Saturday event in the world.

It’s a place where gardeners, farmers, seed savers, and environmental groups gather to exchange knowledge, share resources, and foster deeper connections within the community.

Admission is by donation.

Comedy Night at Hecklers Bar and Grill

For this Saturday’s comedy night, Hecklers Bar and Grill is presenting Rob Bebenek!

The early show is sold out, but there are still tickets left for the late-night show at 10 p.m.—and who doesn’t love late-night comedy?

Bebenek is being referred to as one of the brightest new Canadian voices in comedy and has been featured on MTV, Just For Laughs and numerous comedy festivals.

Attic Treasures

There will be a pop-up vintage market with a large collection of retro items!

Bring a pal or come on your own and see what you can find and take home.

Ride the Cyclone: CCPA

This is your last chance to catch the Canadian College of Performing Arts’ (CCPA) presentation of Ride The Cyclone, performed by the college’s talented Studio Ensemble.

With direction from award-winning director Jordan Laffrenier, choreography by CCPA alumni Laura Ross, and music direction from Stephanie Sartore, this production promises to be a wild, unforgettable journey!

The story takes audiences on a dark, comedic rollercoaster ride. Six teenagers find themselves in limbo, meeting a mysterious fortune teller who gives them a chance to return to Earth, but only if they can tell a story “like no other.”

The show blends music, magic, and mirth—creating a captivating experience that has already charmed audiences worldwide.

Tickets are $35 for general admission and can be purchased here.

Mentor Tea

Join the BC Black History Awareness Society (BCBHAS) as they highlight the elders in our community that do a tremendous job upholding culture and sharing history for the next generation.

Bring your loved ones and/or mentors of your own and share stories. There will also be a photobooth with a professional photographer so you can carry the memories with you.

BCBHAS is honoured to bring in Louise Rose, a powerful musician and presence in the community. Tea and food are included.

Heartfelt Moments Photo Pop-up

There’s a free pop-up photobooth for Valentine’s Day and Family Day at Tillicum Centre this Sunday!

The photos will be printed on-site by Four Frames Photobooth, so you can take it home with you.

For organizational purposes, they ask that you reserve ahead of time, if you’re able. They do accept drop-ins as well, but reservations are recommended!

Open Cockpit Day & Used Book Sale

The BC Aviation Museum is hosting an Open Cockpit Day on Sunday, February 16th, and you won’t want to miss it.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors will have the rare opportunity to step inside some of the museum’s iconic aircrafts and experience the cockpit like never before. 

Some of the included aircrafts are the Republic Seabee, Trident Trigull, Lancaster FM-104, Noorduyn Norseman and others. 

The Hawaii Mars will not be included in the Open Cockpit Day, as the museum has said the flight deck is not ready to receive visitors yet. They’re hoping for early spring!

And that’s not all! While you’re there, don’t miss the Used Book Sale, where you can score a great deal on a wide variety of genres! 

Admission is by donation, so you can enjoy all the fun without breaking the bank.

Victoria Film Festival: Ari’s Theme

One of the many spectacular films that Victoria Film Festival is offering is set to premier this weekend, Sunday, February 16th at 5 p.m.

Ari’s Theme was filmed in Victoria and follows Ari Kinarthy, a 34-year-old composer with a rare genetic condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2.

This tragic condition causes Ari’s muscles to deteriorate, which will ultimately cut his life short.

By the time Ari was 16-years-old, he had already lost the ability to move his arms, but he found some solace in this through a music therapy program which introduced him to music composition. This program allowed Ari to find his life’s purpose.

Not only is VFF screening the film, members and students of the Victoria Conservatory of Music will be live scoring the presentation.

Tickets are $20.

DWTN Winter Lime

The Vancouver Island Carribean Hub is bringing audiences a Family Day cultural market, the DWTN Winter Lime, where they’ll be transforming Ship Point into a bustling area of delicious foods, catchy music and unique goods!

According to a media release, in Trinidadian culture, “liming” means relaxing, socializing and enjoying good company, which is exactly what the city invites you to do!

Come together, connect, and celebrate Caribbean culture in a cozy winter setting.

There will be plenty of music, food, kid-friendly activities, free hot chocolate and more!

Saanich Family Arts Festival

Don’t miss out on the Saanich Family Arts Festival, filled with events that celebrate imagination, creativity and discovery!

There will be a wide variety of live performances and activities such as tinfoil sculpture making with beloved local artist Tanya Bub, creating a mini quilt design, developing your own guide to monsters and more.

Performances include the Veselka Dancers, Melody Moonshaker, Lekwungen Traditional Dancers and others.

This event is free to attend!

To celebrate Family Day, Butchart Gardens is offering free carousel rides!

Spend quality time roaming amongst the impressive gardens and stop by the carousel anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for your free ride.

Admission costs for the gardens change seasonally, but right now general admission is $31.65 for adults, $15.83 for youth (ages 13 to 17-years-old), and $3 for children (ages 5 to 12-years-old).

PlayZone Play Day

Langford’s City Centre Park is offering free access to the Play Zone all day long!

The Play Zone is an indoor gold-mine themed play structure, and is perfect for your youngins to play on while you relax in the Parent Section and enjoy a cup of coffee.

The Toddler Zone is great for kids under three-years-old, so there’s something for every age group!

Capital Bike Cycle Circuit: Family Day

If you’re looking for something fun and exciting to do with the family, check out the Capital Bike Cycle Circuit and attempt their obstacle course!

It’s designed for riders of all ages, and all you have to do is bring your own bike, helmet and any additional safety gear you need.

It’s located at the Lacrosse Box right beside the Esquimalt Recreation Centre and there’s no cost required to participate.

Pacific Opera: Family Day Open House

Pacific Opera and the Victoria Symphony invites everyone to discover the magic of the Royal Theatre this Family Day for their open house!

This event is meant to immerse attendees in the world of opera and symphony with hands-on activity stations, such as sets, costumes, props and more.

You’ll get the opportunity to make your own crown, interact with giant bird puppets or try out a musical instrument!

There will also be pop-up performances and the chance to learn more about Pacific Opera’s upcoming retelling of The Little Prince. 

This event is free to attend, but RSVPs are encouraged to ensure a smooth and enjoyable day for everyone.

Family Day Jamboree

Blossoming at the Farm Society invites everyone to check out their 3rd annual Family Day Jamboree event!

They have a full day of exciting activities planned, including animal visits, disc golf and hot lunch served at the barn.

It’s $25 per family or $15 per person, and you can register by emailing info@blossomingatthefarm.ca.

The proceeds go towards supporting the wide variety of programs offered by the Blossoming at the Farm Society.

Family Fun House

This Family Day Monday, Breaking Waves Entertainment and So Much Fun Productions are turning up the bass and welcoming families to an all-ages electronic music experience!

This event is focused on education, creativity, and community! Whether you’re a tiny dancer, a future DJ, or just here for the vibes, this is a space to express yourself, learn, and connect through music and movement.

Activities offered throughout the day include dance workshops, face painting, silent disco, snacks and a fantastic lineup of featured performers!

Admission is by donation, and the suggested amount is $5 per person or $20 per family. All of the proceeds go to charity.
