On December 31st, a devastating fire destroyed much of the boardwalk, some historic buildings and some priceless artifacts at Telegraph Cove, just southeast of Port McNeill.
In an effort to help the historic site recoup some of the costs it will take to rebuild and repair what was destroyed by the blaze, Longwood Brewery in Nanaimo have launched the Telegraph Project Pale Ale.
From every four-pack of beer sold, $1 will go to Telegraph Cove to help their fundraising efforts.
“Our brewery’s connection with Telegraph Cove dates back to 2017 during the Van Isle 360 International Yacht Race sailing regatta,” wrote Longwood Brewery in a social media post.
“Since then, Longwood Brewery and Telegraph Cove have developed a strong relationship.”

Since the beer was released on Friday, January 24th, Longwood Brewery says they have been overwhelmed by the response.
They say the Telegraph Project Pale Ale is now in many BC liquor stores and restaurants from Port Hardy, to southern Vancouver Island and even on the lower mainland.

Longwood Brewery will be continuing to make this beer and fundraise for Telegraph Cove until September. So for those who missed out on the first batch, there will be plenty of beer where that came from.
