Numerous Vancouver Island breweries win big at this year’s Canada Beer Cup

Beer lovers, start putting together your Vancouver Island beer bucket list!

The island is known to house many iconic breweries, and at this year’s Canada Beer Cup Awards, numerous of these breweries were given the recognition they deserve—receiving an abundance of gold, silver and bronze medals.

And if you aren’t already familiar, Greater Victoria is where quite a few of these craft breweries are located, so we wanted to highlight the winners for you!

Many of which will still be on shelves for you to try while supplies last. 

Here’s four Greater Victoria breweries that won at the Canada Beer Cup Awards 2024:

Whistle Buoy Brewing Co.

• Gold: Contemporary Sour Ale (without fruit) category—Fuzzy Peach Sour 
• Silver: Specialty Wild or Mixed Fermentation category—Wild Raspberry

Category 12 Brewing

• Gold: Canadian Spruce Tip Beer category—Spruce Tip IPA
• Silver: Belgian Ale—Luminous Belgian Blond

• Bronze: Strong Dark European Lager—Porter
• Bronze: English Style Bitter & Pale Ale—ESB

Vancouver Island Brewing

• Gold: Strong Dark European Lager—Hermannator Ice Bock
