Sidney is set to welcome a new dining destination as construction begins on a 129-room hotel near the Victoria International Airport.
The project will feature a brand new 5,000 square foot restaurant, although the specific brand has yet to be confirmed.
A representative from the Kothari Group, the firm behind the development, has indicated that it will be a nationally recognized restaurant brand.
The hotel, named TownPlace Suites by Marriott, will be located at the intersection of Beacon Avenue West and Stirling Way, adjacent to the Pat Bay Highway.
In addition to the restaurant, the facility will offer amenities including 1,500 square feet of meeting space, a swimming pool, and a fitness center.
“We see the addition of a hotel at this location as a logical fit and a great new amenity for the airport and community,” said the now retired Victoria Airport Authority’s President & CEO Geoff Dickson in 2022.
“It is an opportunity for Victoria International Airport to further diversify its revenue base which has been dramatically impacted by the pandemic. We look forward to working with the Kothari Group to hopefully see this exciting proposal come to fruition.”
Guests will also benefit from a complimentary shuttle service connecting the hotel to the airport, enhancing convenience for travellers—including those with early morning flights out of Victoria.
Construction is projected to take between 18 to 24 months to complete, positioning Sidney for further growth in hospitality and dining options.
Further details about the restaurant and its brand will be released as the project progresses.
