The District of Saanich began road improvements through Cadboro Bay earlier this summer and is now providing an update on the progress.
The District says their Active Transportation Plan has prioritized the Sinclair Road corridor in their latest effort to make the area easier for cyclists and pedestrians to traverse.
As construction on Sinclair Road continues, the District recommends commuters in the area consider alternative routes, as road work is expected to continue through until early 2026.
The scope of this project includes new underground servicing, safer sidewalk, crosswalk and bus stop infrastructure, new separated bike lanes and a new raised roundabout for better traffic flow.
Through the construction process, not only will there be traffic disruptions, but there will also be road closures, increased noise and slower speeds in the area.
The District wants to remind residents that stores and businesses in Cadboro Bay Village, at the bottom of the Sinclair Road hill are all open during construction.
Additionally, access to residences, businesses and Gyro Park will be maintained as work progresses.
Motorists commuting through the area are being advised to consider Cedar Hill Cross Road, Hobbs Street (between Sinclair Road and Arbutus Road), Finnerty Road, Arbutus Road and Cadboro Bay Road (this road will be impacted by construction closures at times) during construction.
