West Shore RCMP made an arrest today after being called to a situation involving an allegedly intoxicated man exhibiting erratic behaviour.
The 36-year-old man, who was arrested, was reportedly “heavily under the influence of drugs.”
Police attended the scene and found a collapsible baton, a prohibited weapon, beside the man, leading to his arrest.
According to West Shore RCMP, while searching the man, officers found a replica handgun loaded with realistic-looking replica bullets, as well as a folding knife.
Police stated that the suspect has no previous convictions for weapons-related offences and was not acting threateningly when West Shore RCMP were called.
The suspect was held in custody until sober and subsequently released with conditions not to possess weapons and to attend court.
Police added that charges of possession of a prohibited weapon are expected to be forthcoming.
