Your creativity shines through, Saanich!
In late April, The District of Saanich launched a ‘Name That Sweeper’ contest to honour the upcoming National Public Works Week (NPWW) in May, and provide residents a fun and lighthearted way to connect with the municipalities services.
Well, the results are in and it’s time to get voting! Participants have until Saturday, May 25th to submit their top pick, and can do so here.
The winning name will be announced at the end of May!
The options are as follows:
- Curby
- Lightning McClean
- Sweepasaurus Rex
- Sweeping Beauty
- Sweep Pea
To note, you have to be registered with HelloSaanich or create an account in order to participate in the voting process.
The sweeper in question was introduced to the streets of Victoria in April 2023 and is known to be small but mighty.
It has become a valuable part of the public works fleet with a big job—after all, it’s the only sweeper that can keep Saanich bike lanes clear!
