Treat your tastebuds to downtown Victoria’s newest guided food tasting experience

Share

If you’re looking for a new way to explore the city’s culinary delights, look no further!

A self-guided tasting experience called “Taste the City” has launched in Victoria—all it requires is that you bring along your cellphone.

Bask in the thrill of mystery going into this delightful experience, as you’re only given the first restaurant location with the rest to be revealed as you go!

As described, tasters will spend around 25 minutes at each restaurant, getting to try a pre-selected sample size dish that best represents the culinary style of that location.

Then, guests will be prompted via text message, and sent on a short walk to the next mystery restaurant.

There’s no need to worry about speed-walking or sprinting—each tasting is within easy walking distance, allowing guests to also explore Victoria on foot.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to both enjoy different restaurants in Victoria as well as support local business in a fun and memorable way!

Taste the City is the creation of award winning entrepreneur Joanna Pariseau, who came up with the idea while trying to find restaurants in Italy.

Pariseau was the top award winner at the 2024 Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition for Taste the City.

“Our tasters love how easy it is to experience this private, digitally guided food tasting, with a bit of mystery that truly makes it an adventure,” said Pariseau.

“When you book a tasting from our site, you’ll get a message that guides you to your first location. And then we’ll digitally guide you to the rest, all within 1.5-2 hours.”

Taste the City is being curated by Nicole Bentham, who brings a wealth of experience in the local Victoria food scene to tasters.

“Taste the City is bringing a unique experience to Victoria that we don’t yet have and I’m excited to be a part of adding a new spice to the mix of our already vibrant foodie scene in town,” said Bentham.

Bentham added the benefits to Victoria restaurants include increasing the number of visitors they get, and to create interest in returning.

“Taste the City offers local restaurants a way to increase seatings and revenue in the spaces of their reservation schedules, making the most of their time. It’s also a fantastic marketing tool for bringing in new business and offering current returning guests a fun way to explore the city.”
