Cheers to the weekend, Victoria!
Remembrance Day ceremonies and events will be taking place all over the island in honour of our fallen soldiers as well as to salute the ones that are currently serving.
If you are unable to attend any of the ceremonies, you can participate in the two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. to pay your respects.
It is indeed a long weekend because of Remembrance Day, so this weekend’s list includes Monday, November 13th as well—many of you will have it off as a stat holiday.
There are plenty of other things to do this weekend in between, before, or after Remembrance Day activities such as shimmering holiday markets, a Victoria Royals game, a vinyl record fair, and more!

Attend a Remembrance Day ceremony or event
Every year, Canadians recognize Remembrance Day on November 11th and participate in ceremonies in which we collectively remember and pay our respects to our fallen soldiers.
Attendees of these events will often hear from veterans, lay wreaths, and participate in the two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.

Yuletide Christmas Market Series
This is a market you won’t want to miss!
With over 90 local businesses over 7 different market days, you’re bound to find something you like at the Yuletide Market Series—whether it’s a gift or a treat for yourself!
The first market kicked off on Friday, November 10th and will run on select days until Thursday, December 21st. For the full schedule, check out their page.
November 10th’s market will feature vendors such as Beeautiful Planet, Bits of Bliss Confectionary, Bussard Grove Pottery, Caitlyn Chapman Studio, Crowfoot Collective, and dot.Naturals.
Each will bring a new rotation of vendors, so it’s fresh and unique every time you visit.
Entry is $5 per person.

Nomad Holiday Market
Vancouver Island is full of talented nomads, which is why the Nomad Holiday Market was created especially to showcase their wonderfully one-of-a-kind items!
Always creative and always pushing boundaries, you’re invited to browse through some of BC’s finest artists—it launched on Friday, November 10th and will run until Sunday, November 12th.
Whether it’s for someone on your holiday shopping list or just you, they promise items that will surely ‘wow’ you!
Admission is $5 at the door for a single day, or you can pay $8 for a weekend pass.

The Sunset Limited by Cormac McCarthy
Attitude Theatre in Victoria welcomes you to a masterful production based on famous author Cormac McCarthy’s work, The Sunset Limited, at the Paul Phillips Hall in Fernwood.
Viewers and critics alike have deemed it provocative, insightful, and incredibly written!
As described, the story follows an encounter between two souls torn between faith and atheism. This encounter is between two men, Black, an ex-convict who has found God, and White, a jaded professor, and nonbeliever steeped in nihilistic ideology.
They both engage in a painful contest of faith in the divine and the futility of life in all within the emotionally charged confines of Black’s run-down apartment.
This is its last weekend—don’t miss out!

Creative Craft Fairs
It’s a community favourite for a reason—don’t miss out!
Every year, Creative Craft Fairs offers a true extravaganza of outstanding arts, crafts, and demonstrations with their event at Victoria’s Pearkes Rec Centre.
Over 125 exhibitors will be presenting their crafts, gourmet food, fine art, photography, clothing, glass art, jewelry, bath and beauty products, woodwork, high-quality imports and much more.
Check out exhibitors like Lochside Pottery, Planet Mushrooms, and even Mystic Moth Apothecary, who will be doing on-site psychic readings!
Plus, Greek On the Street will be providing food, and hourly draw prizes will be given away.

Calico Christmas Market
Calico Christmas is thrilled to invite everyone out for their 36th annual Christmas market at the Spectrum Community School!
The market will take place over the course of two days, both Saturday, November 11th and Sunday, November 12th.
They’ve chosen 100 local vendors to shine at this year’s event—browse through a rich selection of gourmet food, bath and body care products, ceramics, gardening decor, and much more!
There will also be a couple of food trucks with hot food and drinks to warm your bellies while you look around.
As the event falls on Remembrance Day, all activity will be halted at 11 a.m. to participate in the two minutes of silence.
Weekend admission costs $5 cash and it includes an entry ticket into a prize draw for Vancouver Canucks tickets and hotel package!
Kids 12 and under get in for free.

In the Mood Quartet
Shift back in time with popular pop and jazz songs from the First and Second World Wars.
As described, attendees can expect songs of love, longing, playful flirting, and swingin’ distraction, performed by Angela Verbrugge and the In the Mood Quartet.
They invite you to join them this Remembrance Day for some toe-tapping as well as somber tunes to both honour and reflect those that we lost during wartimes.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online and in person.

Reggae Dance and Food Drive
Dance and vibe out, all for a good cause!
Featured performances include PHONOSONICS with their Reggae greats and fan-favourite sound, DJ I-LOT with their vintage sounds, and DJ JUDAH with their modern Caribbean sounds.
Help out your community and bring in a non-perishable food item—all of the items will be distributed to food banks of Victoria!
Tickets are $10 with a non-perishable food item and $15 without.

Remembrance Day in Concert
Capriccio Vocal Ensemble invites you to their Remembrance Day celebration as they honour the troops through song.
As described, they are offering musical expressions that are tied to this time of self-reflection and remembrance, invoking sentiments of appreciation, serenity, and solidarity.
The concert will take place at Christ Church Cathedral and tickets are $35 for general admission and $15 for students. You can purchase them via Eventbrite.

The Victoria Record Fair
For all the vinyl record lovers out there, get out your wallets!
The biannual Victoria Record Fair is back and ready to take over the Fernwood Community Centre with over 30 vendors offering vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and music memorabilia items!
This fair will also be fundraising for the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.
Admission to enter is by donation with a $2 to $5 recommended amount.

Great American Songbook at Hermann’s Jazz Club
Join jazz lovers at Hermann’s Jazz Club on Sunday as three of the finest interpreters of melody, story and song unite to explore and celebrate the limitless possibilities of The Great American Songbook.
This performance holds a powerhouse trio featuring the legendary Miss Louise Rose, the superlative Joey Smith, and the stellar Kelby MacNayr.
The Great American Songbook Trio presents a special concert dedicated to the incredible composers of the Jazz Age.

Victoria Royals vs. Kelowna Rockets
Cheer for the Royals at their 11th home game of the season and take advantage of their ‘Value Weekdays’ deals!
You can purchase a ticket for as little as $10 and enjoy $5 Lucky beer and $3 hot dogs throughout the whole game.
Plus, a DJ will be on site to keep the party moving no matter what!
Didn’t get enough of the Royals during the game? Well, you’re in luck! They will be hosting a 45 minute ‘skate with the players’ event as soon as the ice is cleared after the game.
The players will most likely have to freshen up a bit after the game, so everyone will get at least 30 minutes with them.

Starting this Monday, the Haus of Owl will be hosting nights specifically geared towards those looking for some extra creative motivation and inspiration for music!
