Victoria’s most popular festive fundraiser is relocating to a new venue

Habitat for Humanity Victoria has been putting on the annual Gingerbread Showcase fundraiser for 15 years.

This year, the annual event which has garnered the non-profit hundreds of thousands of dollars has decided to no longer host their event at the Parkside Hotel & Spa which has hosted the showcase for the past seven years.

In 2022 alone, they raised over $75,000.

With the exception of pandemic years, when the showcase was spread out over several venues to allow for adequate social distancing, it has always been at a singular venue.

Now, Habitat for Humanity has announced their venue change to be at the Hotel Grand Pacific going forward.

The Hotel Grand Pacific, located at 463 Belleville Street, is much closer to the tourist hotspots in the city such as the BC legislature, the Empress Hotel and the businesses along Wharf Street.

“The Hotel Grand Pacific team is delighted to be the new home of the Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Showcase,” says Reid James, General Manager of the Hotel Grand Pacific.

“We are looking forward to welcoming hundreds of generous Victorians and visitors to see the amazing creations, in support of Habitat Victoria and the build program.”

In addition to being more central, Habitat for Humanity says the new venue is a bit larger than the Parkside Hotel & Spa and may be able to accommodate more entries and guests in future years.

The 2023 Gingerbread Showcase will open on November 25th and will run through until January 4th.

Every year, the showcase has a new theme and this year’s is ‘Family Traditions.’

Once Halloween is in the rearview mirror and people start to get into the festive and giving spirit, the public is welcome to view all the gingerbread creations and donate to Habitat for Humanity Victoria in exchange for a vote for their favorite display.
