There are free drive-in movie nights coming to Mayfair this October

Grab the popcorn, Victoria!

Mayfair Shopping Centre is bringing the classic drive-in experience back to the city this October, giving Victorians the chance to watch a movie from the comfort of their own car.

For two nights only, Mayfair will transform part of its parking lot into an outdoor theatre, with free drive-in movies under the stars on Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th.

And the movie lineup is pretty perfect for October.

On Friday night, moviegoers can settle in for Twilight, the 2008 vampire romance that launched a pop culture phenomenon and feels especially fitting for a fall evening on Vancouver Island.

Then on Saturday, it’s time to get into the Halloween spirit with Hocus Pocus, the beloved seasonal classic featuring the Sanderson sisters.

Both movies will be shown in the Mayfair parking lot at Blanshard Street and Finlayson Street, with vehicle entry beginning at 4 p.m. and the movies starting at 6:30 p.m.

While admission is completely free, advance registration through Eventbrite is required to guarantee a parking spot. Only one ticket is needed per vehicle, not per person. And while tickets are expected to sell out fast, Mayfair can accommodate limited walk-ins.

Registered vehicles must be checked in and parked by 6 p.m. Any spots that haven’t been claimed by then will be opened to people without tickets on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.

Mayfair is also making a whole evening out of it. There will be food trucks onsite, plus complimentary Kernels Popcorn available at guest services while supplies last.

Everyone inside a registered vehicle will also have a chance to enter a giveaway during the event.

With space limited for both nights, anyone hoping to catch a movie from the comfort of their car will want to book their vehicle spot in advance through Eventbrite.
