Happy Thursday, Victoria and yes it’s October already!

Celebrate the short week with some events around town.

Break Out West is finally here, bringing some of Canada’s up-and-coming musical artists to Victoria for a weekend that’s going to be one for the ages.

Scary season is also getting closer—celebrate with the Psychic Fair at The Bay Centre or by learning about some autumn creatures at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary!

Here are 5 things to do in and around Victoria this Thursday, October 1st:

Break Out West at multiple locations

Break Out West is finally here!

Catch some of the country’s up-and-coming talent, including TK The Artist, Hughes, Julia Vos, Melafrique, Find Food Market, Daysormay and more!

The festival will be taking place at Victoria’s premier venues throughout the city, including The Coda, Capital Ballroom, Lucky Bar, Encore and Studio 919.

Act now – this festival only happens once every few years and typically sells out, so don’t miss out!

Victoria Psychic Fair at The Bay Centre

Head to a Psychic Fair at The Bay Centre!

Dive into the mysteries of the soul to discover more about your life purpose, love, relationships, guides, past lives, family and well being.

Offering a wide range of spiritual services, the Victoria Psychic Fair is sure to satisfy your metaphysical curiosity.

A psychic reading can provide clarity and direction, helping to confirm what your inner voice has been saying all along.

The fair is free and everyone is welcome to attend.

  • When: Thursday, October 1st – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Ms. Pacman Tournament at Pinhalla

Pinhalla welcomes all challengers to throw a score up between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to crown the champ!

The authentic Ms. Pac-Man cabinet from 1982 has a speed chip so this should be exciting!

Entry is 1 token.

First prize is a $50 Gift Card, second is a $25 Gift Card and third pace is a $20 Super Token.

There will be food and drink specials as well as Pac Man cookies.

Everyone is welcome to watch and all ages and skill levels can participate.

Creatures of the Autumn Night at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary

Learn about some creatures of the night!

Adaptations and key features of nocturnal creatures will be the focus during this indoor/outdoor program.

Learn about local species in this classroom presentation featuring hands-on time with specimens, then enjoy a short guided walk outdoors at dusk where attendees will hope to see these creatures in the wild.

Guests will explore how the shorter days and change in weather affects these animals during this season.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for kids under two.

  • When: Thursday, October 1st – 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Aaron Wylder with special guest Mikayla Menzies at Cinderbloc Studios

Catch a show at Cinderbloc Studios!

Victoria local Aaron Wylder will take to the stage for some indie rock, folk-rock and rock-country tunes.

Mikayla Menzies will be supporting Wylder, bringing an indie, folk and alternative rock sound.

Both artists are from Victoria

Tickets are $23 and can be purchased here.
