Snowbirds announce another Victoria flyby during David Foster Foundation concert

If you missed your chance to see the Snowbirds in action earlier this week, you’ve got one last opportunity!

Following the massive turnout along Dallas Road to see the Canadian Forces Snowbirds perform over Victoria, the iconic aircraft will now be conducting another flyover during the David Foster Foundation 40th anniversary concert. 

The Canadian Armed Forces announced the Snowbirds’ flyby, for which the team will fly the CT-114 Tutor one last time over Victoria, and they will be joined by Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CF-18 Hornet fighter jets. 

Currently, the Snowbirds are touring across Canada in their Tutors to mark the last time the aircraft are utilized by their team of skilled pilots before the jets are retired. 

These aircraft are modified for show features and enhanced performance during low-level aerobatic flying performed by the Snowbirds.

For the flyby, RCAF pilots will be joining the Snowbirds in Hornet jets, which are the primary frontline multi-role fighter utilized by the air force. These jets are typically utilized in many different roles, including air defence, air superiority and tactical support.

During the David Foster Foundation 40th anniversary concert, the Snowbirds and three RCAF Hornets from 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta will conduct their flyby at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th.

“The Royal Canadian Air Force is proud to share in national events such as this, with flybys that allow us to demonstrate the capabilities of our personnel and aircraft to Canadians,” wrote a Canadian Armed Forces spokesperson in a media release. 

Those gathered in the Inner Harbour for the event will see the aircraft fly over at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest obstacle on their route. 

The Canadian Armed Forces say that flybys such as this are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety. 

This flyby will be dependent upon weather and flying conditions.
