An extensive search for a missing hiker in Strathcona Provincial Park has ended with good news after he spent nearly three days missing in the rugged backcountry.
Keshav Jindal was located alive in steep terrain in the Mount Albert Edward area on Thursday.
The 25-year-old had been missing since Monday, August 3rd, after becoming separated from his hiking group that afternoon in the Paradise Meadows and Mount Albert Edward area.
Jindal remained missing for close to three days before search teams located him.
At the time of the update, search and rescue crews were working to safely bring him out of the steep terrain.
The extensive effort brought together seven search and rescue teams from across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland, along with several partner agencies.
“A huge thank you to everyone who came together through mutual aid to support the search, and to the public for sharing information and supporting the effort,” Comox Valley Search and Rescue said.
Comox Valley RCMP also thanked the public and media for their assistance.
Rescue crews said additional details are expected to be released when appropriate.
