5 Victoria restaurants named among top outdoor dining spots in Canada

It goes without saying that British Columbians are big fans of the outdoors. Because of this, patio season in Victoria is one that people in the city look forward to all year.

Everyone in the city has a favourite patio.

Whether it’s dog-friendly, has a great happy hour, a beautiful view of the ocean and olympic mountains or has the best food, everyone has a favourite place to stop in and watch the world go by while enjoying a choice beverage or bite to eat.

To honour the tradition of outdoor dining, every year OpenTable.ca highlights Canada’s favourite patios with their Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining list.

“We love what can happen around the restaurant table,” their website states.

“Since 1998 we’ve been committed to empowering that experience.”

This year, some of Victoria’s favourite patios have been given the honour of being named on OpenTable’s 2026 Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining list.

The unranked list had five Greater Victoria restaurants make an appearance.

In no particular order, these restaurants were Boom + Batten, Fireside Grill, Glo Restaurant + Lounge, Wind Cries Mary and Finn’s Seafood.

Each restaurant on the website is issued a star rating corresponding to diners’ experiences.

Finn’s has the highest rating at 4.8 stars, with Wind Cries Mary at 4.7, Boom + Batten and Fireside Grill at 4.6 and Glo Restaurant at 4.5 stars.

Finn’s, Boom + Batten, Glo Restaurant and Fireside Grill are storied establishments in the city, and are commonplace on lists like these.

They each made OpenTable’s list last year as well, along with Cafe Brio, which was left out this time around.

Wind Cries Mary is one of Victoria’s favourites for cocktails and small plates, and is a newcomer to this list that highlights the best outdoor dining in the city.

These rankings are always subjective, and everyone in Victoria has their own opinion on the best outdoor dining in the city.

My favourites restaurants are Syriana, and another (with real mexican taste) is Ay mi México! Both in Esquimalt.

I'm certainly not sure how or why Wind Cries Mary achieved one of the top spots. Three visits over the last 18 months and all have been rushed arrogant overpriced hardly impressive service and food. Apparently little Victoria is still very little and has no clue about what real culinary Excellence looks like.
